Maria BenelmekkiMaria Benelmekki is Senior Staff Scientist at OIST-Graduate University, Japan. After completing a PhD in experimental solid-state physics (1997) at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB-Spain) and postdoctoral work at Ecole National Supérieure 'Art et Métier (ENSAM-France), she joined industrial research as Project Manager, working on international R&D projects relating to a broad range of nanomaterials and their application in food packaging and automotive industries. Eight years later, she joined the Centre of Physics of Minho University (Portugal) where she built up a research topic in the area of nanoparticles and hybrid nanomaterials.
