Maria Eugenia Guerra
Mar�a Eugenia Guerra is the owner and publisher of LareDOS, A Journal of the Borderlands in Laredo, Texas. LareDOS focuses on many of the hard-hitting political and environmental issues that face residents of the border region. In its five-year hitory, LareDOS has been instrumental in drawing attention to the beleaguered natural resource of the R�o Grande and to the spending policies of school districts, county government, and other entities funded by the public nickel.
She is the former editor and publisher of the Zapata Weekly Express.
A native Laredoan, she is a rancher in Zapata County, managing land that has been in her family for 200 years. She is the mother of George J. Altgelt, a senior at Texas A & M International University. She lives at the Santa Mar�a Ranch in San Ygnacio, Texas. She is chair person of the Citizen's Environmental Advisory Committee, a City Council appointed committee to monitor environmental issues in Laredo.
Mar�a Eugenia Guerra holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism from Southwest Texas State University.
