Maria Shabbir

Dr. Maria Shabbir is an Associate Professor at NUST with around 8 years of academic experience. She has PhD degree in cancer genetics from Quaid e Azam University and a Post-doc form the University of Wisconsin, USA. She has received multiple grans and have many publications in credit in the field of cancer genetics. Her research group aims to identify cancer genes, which are genes that when mutated contribute to cancer development by promoting tumor cell growth and by conferring upon a cancer cell the ability to evade the cell cycle and cell death checkpoints that would normally control their growth. I am also interested in the networks and pathways that contribute to tumor development and how cancer genes work together to promote tumor evolution.
