Mark OdeMark C. Ode is the founder of Southwest Electrical Training and Consulting LLC and Ode Enterprises LLC. Previously, he was the lead engineering instructor at UL University for Underwriters Laboratories, Inc., in the Research Triangle Park, North Caroina, and a member of UL’s Regulatory Services Department. He spent nine years as National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), staff liaison for the Electrical Equipment in Chemical Atmospheres Committee responsible for hazardous locations and was the staff liaison for the NFPA Electrical Section. Mark was on NEC Panels 1, 3, 4, 7, 13 and 20 from 1998–2020 and the NEC Correlating Committee from 2005–2017. Mark has written monthly NEC articles for Electrical Contractor Magazine since January 2000. He was co-author of the "Stallcup Illustrated Code Changes," 2008 Edition, "Stallcup 2008 Journeyman Electrician’s Study Guide" and "Stallcup 2008 Master Electrician’s Study Guide." He was also co-author of the Cengage "Electrical Grounding and Bonding," 7th Edition, Cengage-Delmar’s "Electrical Raceways and Other Wiring Methods," 6th Edition and the Cengage "Electrical Wiring Commercial," 18th Edition. He also served as a senior electrical specialist for the NFPA for nine years and was staff for the 1993, 1996 and 1999 NFPA 70 NEC Code Changes videos and books. He has taught classes for NFPA on NFPA 70 (NEC), NFPA 70E (Electrical Safety), NFPA 79 (Industrial Machinery) and NFPA 70B (Electrical Maintenance) from 1990 through present. He taught National Electrical Code classes at Phoenix College for 10 years. Mark also had an electrical contracting company in the State of Arizona for 15 years.
