Hodge, a Jarrell native and published historian, is involved with numerous historical societies and is a member of the Daughters of the Revolutionary War and the Daughters of the Republic of Texas. Coauthor Priscilla S. King, a longtme Jarrell resident, is active in numerous civic organizations and is in the process of launching the Jarrell Historical Society.
