Mary LeathermanMary Kay Leatherman grew up in Omaha, Nebraska. She majored in English at Creighton University in Omaha and went on to teach English and creative writing to high school students for thirteen years. In 1996, Leatherman was chosen as one of the recipiets of the Buffett Award for excellence in teaching.
