Mary Taylor SimetiA native New Yorker, Mary Taylor Simeti has lived in Sicily since 1962. She and her husband help their daughter run the family farm, where they produce wine, olive oil and organic produce. Simeti is the author of various books on Sicily, including OnPersephone's Island: A Sicilian Journal (Knopf, 1986), a history of Sicilian food entitled Pomp and Sustenance (Knopf 1989) and, most recently, Travels with a Medieval Queen (Farrar Straus Giroux, 2001).
