Matteo Benedetti

Professor Matteo Benedetti is Associate Professor of Machine Design at the University of Trento, where he has been a faculty member since 2007. He received his PhD in Materials Engineering from the University of Trento in 2004. He has held isiting researcher positions at the Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg (Germany) and at McGill University (Canada).

His research interests include the experimental characterization and modelling of the mechanical behavior of materials under static and cyclic loading, fatigue and structural integrity of additively manufactured lattice and cellular materials, measurement and modelling of residual stress fields, and their incorporation into fatigue design methodologies. He has co-authored more than 150 journal papers and over 150 conference contributions, receiving more than 6000 citations.

Professor Benedetti has delivered invited seminars and plenary lectures at international conferences and has served as Chair of the Technical Division on Residual Stresses of the Society for Experimental Mechanics (USA). He currently serves as Associate Editor for Materials & Design, Materials Design & Processing Communications, and Additive Manufacturing Letters.
