Matthew de GuiaMatthew started drawing when he was just 5 years old. He started in the classical arts creating drawings by hand and then continued his education with art schools and classes to learn to create digital arts. He is most proud of his work on his animatd short film entitled "Princess Dance" and dreams of being employed by a large animation company like Disney or DreamWorks. Matthew's favorite word is imagination. "Imagine and dream ... as you can be anything!" His hope for the book, Why the Girl Became a Cat, is that it will encourage children to dream big, remind adults to stay in touch with their imagination, and also showcase the unique bond that can happen between a child and her pet. Matthew, who is of Filipino descent, was born in Glendale, CA, and still lives in the area with his family.
