Matthew Lungu

Matthew Lungu is an emerging African author and international student currently based in South Africa. Driven by a lifelong passion for the performing arts and narrative craft, Matthew's work is a testament to the power of self-taght storytelling.

​His creative journey began at the age of six, fueled by a deep love for cinema and television. By thirteen, he set his sights on the screen, and in the absence of traditional acting support, he pivoted to the page to pave his own path. To Matthew, writing and acting are inseparable forms of artistic expression, each serving as a bridge to his ultimate dream of performing and directing for the screen.

​Matthew is the creator of the ambitious New Breed saga, a project that took eighteen months of dedicated writing to refine. Described as his storytelling masterpiece, New Breed serves as the cornerstone of a growing body of work that includes the House of Kings saga, Monster in My Head, and Old and Grey. He is also currently developing upcoming titles such as Aeryn: The Unrisen and the deeply personal My Height is My Biggest Insecurity.

​A firm believer that "one can do the impossible by drawing their own path," Matthew continues to write with the goal of bridging the gap between literature and the silver screen.
