Maureen Mwewa MalamaMaureen Mwewa Malama was a mother of six children, fourteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild before her unexpected death in June 2023. Maureen was a trained Tax Inspector who worked in the Zambian Tax Department until her retirement in the mid 000s. Maureen was a cherished member of her church congregation the United Church of Zambia in Ndola where she held different positions to assist the under privileged. When Maureen's granddaughter was diagnosed with sickle cell disease in the late 2009, Maureen became a fearless advocate to raise awareness about this condition. She did so to all her family members and the public at large. In 2022, Maureen was in the forefront to participate in the World Sickle Cell Day awareness and participating in the Know Your Sickle Cell Status campaign.
