Max AlvarezMAX ALVAREZ is a film historian who presents multimedia lectures on cinema history. A former Smithsonian Institution visiting scholar, Washington, D.C. film curator, and newspaper film critic, Alvarez currently teaches cinema for the Sundays at JASA ontinuing education program at John Jay College in Manhattan. His book The Crime Films of Anthony Mann is published by University Press of Mississippi, and Thornton Wilder/New Perspectives (Northwestern University Press) features Alvarez's essay on the writing of the classic Alfred Hitchcock thriller, Shadow of a Doubt.
