Max Wickert

Max WickertMax Wickert was born in Augsburg, Germany, and immigrated to the US in his teens. After earning a doctorate from Yale, he taught for forty years in the English department of the University at Buffalo. He is the author of two previous collections, All the Weight of the Still Midnight (1972) and Pat Sonnets (2000), of numerous poems in journals, and of two books of verse translation from the works of Torquato Tasso: The Liberation of Jerusalem (Oxford University Press, 2009) and Love Poems for Lucrezia Bendidio (Italica Press, 2011).
