Melissa KhalilSince age five, Melissa's dream was to become a doctor. In 2017, she made her dream reality, graduating from Saint Joseph University in Beirut, Lebanon with a Doctor of Medicine degree. Melissa then moved to the U.S. to continue her medical training.Melissa grew up in a Christian family, but she personally encountered Jesus at the age of fifteen. Shortly after, she received a prophetic word confirming her childhood dream of becoming a doctor. It was a life-changing experience when she became aware that her heart's desire was aligned with God's calling for her life. Melissa was then ready to start her journey, knowing that the Holy Spirit was guiding her steps.As a medical student, Melissa experienced burnout and questioned the possibility of serving God through medicine. She then realized that there must be more to medicine than what is taught and practiced. Becoming a doctor is not merely a career choice. It is a true calling-a divine one that carries God's love, hope and power to the world. Empathy and medical care are not enough. They both are strong pillars in medicine; however, they should be driven by Christ-like love. Love that is unconditional. As she fixes her eyes on Jesus, Melissa's goal is to become more like Him in every aspect of life. In her prayer time, she once heard the Lord say, Tear down the boxes you have put me in and the boxes you have put yourself in, and watch what I'll do.
