Michael ArvithisMichael Arvithis is a Sydney-based artist, illustrator and actor with a BFA in painting/drawing from COFA (present-day Art & Design, UNSW). Michael has won numerous national art prizes and has illustrated previous children's books, as well as designig and illustrating marketing material for various independent theatre companies and music venues. Largely influenced by the Post-Impressionists, movies, 90s comic art and Francis Bacon, Michael's work ranges from dreamlike landscapes to comical satirizations of societal behaviour, to more surreal depictions of the darker parts of the human psyche. His works often explore loneliness, urban lifestyles, altered states of mind, human communication and his family's Greek roots.
