Michelle EsquilloRuth Feiertag is the Senior Editor at Regal House Publishing and owner of PenKnife Writing and Editorial Services, LLC. She has worked as an editor, proofreader, and tutor for over thirty years, and writes literary criticism on Medieval and Renaissane English literature. When editing, she never forgets that the author intends to engage and captivate a reader. She looks at editing as a collaborative process in which author and editor learn from and teach each other through the medium of the manuscript. Her goal is to always help authors produce their best, most readable works. Ms. Feiertag has been working intensively with Regal House Publishing Company, editing works such Killing the Bee King by Jaynie Royal, The Pavilion of the Forgotten Concubines by Pim Wiersinga, the award-winning A Warsaw Chronicle by Carol Hebald, the anthology Speak and Speak Again (as co-editor of the volume and author of the Introduction), and Regal's forthcoming titles. She also assists with Regal's acquisitions decisions. In addition, Ms. Feiertag edited Second on the Right by Elizabeth Los and Karen Steur's Lilith Whispers Back (Archway Publishing) and has edited newsletters for Brown University's Sarah Doyle Women's Center, the Boulder Writers Alliance, and the National Coalition of Independent Scholars. She was the Book Review Editorial Assistant for the academic journal English Language Notes for several years and proofread A Blackbird Sings, a book of small stones poetry edited by Fiona Robyn and Kaspalita (Malvern, England: Woodsmoke Press, 2012). But it was during her time as a tutor and lead instructor for the Disabled Students Writing Lab at the University of Colorado that Ms. Feiertag acquired her most valuable editing experience. It was from the students who came to lab, students who needed someone to adjust to their learning styles, that she learned to be flexible and adaptable in ways that make her a responsive and attentive editor. Ms. Feiertag has a B.A. in Literature from the University of California, Santa Cruz; an M.A. in English from the University of Colorado, Boulder; a certificate from the University of California, Berkeley's Profession Sequence in Editing, and is a member of the National Coalition of Independent Scholars.
