Mike Raine
Mike started hillwalking on the Yorkshire moors in the early seventies and drifted into rock climbing later that decade. He started working in the outdoors in the early eighties as a freelancer. Mike then went to college to study geography and subequently trained as a secondary school teacher. After teaching for 12 years Mike was fortunate enough to land a full-time post at Plas y Brenin, the National Outdoor Centre in Snowdonia. He still works at Plas y Brenin as a Senior Instructor with responsibilities that include training mountain leaders, first aiders and environmental education. Mike also runs his own Nature of Snowdonia workshops; details of these can be found on his Facebook page Mike Raine: Notes from the Hill or at www.mikeraine.co.uk
