Mohamed ChawkiDr.(Habil.) Mohamed Chawki i is an Associate Professor of Criminal Law and Cybercrime at Naif Arab University for Security Sciences in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. With over 19 years of academic and research experience and 25 years of legal practice, Dr. Chwki has become a leading authority in cybercrime, cybersecurity, victimology, and human trafficking. He holds a Ph.D. from the University of Lyon III in France, where he conducted a comparative study of English, French, and American legal systems in addressing cybercrime, earning the highest distinction. Furthering his academic journey, he completed postdoctoral studies and earned his Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches (HDR) from Aix-Marseille University in 2023, the highest European qualification for professorship. Dr. Chawki has taught at prestigious institutions worldwide, including Aix-Marseille University, the University of Paris I Sorbonne, and German University in Cairo (GUC) instructing in English and French. His teaching portfolio spans over 17 subjects, ranging from cybercrime and digital forensics to victimology and comparative criminal law. He has authored 14 books in English, French, and Arabic, published 35 peer-reviewed journal articles in internationally indexed journals--including outlets published by Springer, Taylor & Francis, MDPI, Emerald, Wolters Kluwer, etc and delivered more than 250 conference presentations at national and international academic forums. He has also contributed to edited volumes and scholarly books, and his work has been widely cited by the global research community. As the Founder and Chairman of the International Association of Cybercrime Prevention (AILCC), based in Paris, France, Dr. Chawki leads an organization of international IT experts and legal scholars specializing in cyber law, privacy, and security. He is also the Founder and Co-Director of the African Center for Cyberlaw and Cybercrime Prevention (ACCP), a research center established in collaboration with the United Nations (UN) and currently hosted at Nelson Mandela University (NMU), South Africa. Furthermore, he served as the Co-Drafter of the African Union Convention on Cybersecurity (Malabo Convention), a landmark treaty aimed at harmonizing cybersecurity and personal data protection frameworks across African nations. Dr. Chawki's contributions extend beyond research and teaching to sustained academic and professional leadership. He has served as the Editor-in-Chief of the Arab Journal for Security Studies (AJSS) and as a board member of the American Society of Criminology's Cybercrime Division, contributing to the advancement of scholarship in cybercrime and security studies. He also acts as a Mock Trial Judge at The International White Hat Conference Competition, a flagship initiative designed to strengthen practical capacities in cybersecurity and ethical hacking and organized annually by Boston University. In addition, Dr. Chawki is a member of the Commission Régionale d'Experts Économiques et Scientifiques of the Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie (AUF), where he participates in the evaluation and selection of funded scientific projects in higher education. His international engagement further includes service as an Advisory Board Member of the Center for Cybercrime Investigation & Cybersecurity at Boston University, membership on the International Advisory Board of the International Journal for Cybersecurity and Law (Springer), and participation as a reviewer of new journal proposals for SAGE Publications, UK. Recognized globally for his contributions, he has received numerous prestigious medals and awards, including the "Gabriel Malagrida Order of Merit Medal" from the Governor of Paraiba State in Brazil (2025), the "Medalha Serviços Distintos" from the Government of Brazil (2009), the "Medal of Distinction" from the President of Egypt (1998), and the "Award for Excellence in Scientific Research" from Naif Arab University for Security Sceicnes (2022- 2025).
