Neil ThorogoodNeil is an ordained minister of the United Reformed Church (URC) in the UK. He currently serves two congregations in the Bristol area in the South Western Synod of the URC. He writes widely for worship and prayer resources in publications and online nd is also involved in leading retreats. Prior to arriving in Bristol in 2020, amidst the pandemic, Neil served for 15 years at the URC's theological college in Cambridge. Westminster College is one of the historic theological colleges linked to the university's Divinity Faculty and shares with over ten other ecumenical institutions in the Cambridge Theological Federation (CTF). For his first nine years, Neil taught practical theology and oversaw student placement programmes. For his final 6 years he had the privilege of being the college's Principal. During this time he also served as President of the CTF. Neil is active as a visual artist, working mainly in oils and in charcoal. His teaching interests increasingly focussed upon the imagination and ways in which the visual arts can be in conversation with theology and biblical studies. He has also served congregations in Hertfordshire (at Welwyn Garden City - a purpose built new community created as a commuter town for London) and West Yorkshire (at Halifax - one of the carpet mill towns at the centre of the Victorian Industrial Revolution).
