Nellie Shaw HarnarNellie Shaw Harnar was born in Wadsworth, Nevada located within the Pyramid Lake Indian Reservation and grew up as a fluent speaker of the Numu language where she learned the traditions and history of the tribe from the elders. She attended the Stewat Indian School as a young child and went on to receive her master's degree in teaching from the University of Nevada, Reno.
