The concept for this novel came to Nicholas while he was on a spiritual retreat in Hawaii, where he had the opportunity to speak with a spiritual leader who was also knowledgeable about astronomy and global politics. Nicholas has always felt there is a connection between technology and the natural world that is often overlooked and that nature itself can be used as inspiration for all sorts of creative endeavors, including the creation of new technology. While immersed in nature, he felt a reconnection with a part of his life that had been smothered by living in the metropolis of Toronto.
