Nina WitoszekNina Witoszek is a Polish-Irish-Norwegian academic and author, now a senior researcher at the Center for Development and Environment (SUM) at the University of Oslo (UiO). She has a PhD in comparative politics and has previously worked as a researche and lecturer at the universities of Galway (Ireland), Uppsala (Sweden), Cambridge and Oxford (England) and at the European Institute in Florence (Italy). In addition to extensive non-fiction writing, Witoszek has published a number of novels (under the pseudonym Nina FitzPatrick) and several collections of essays. She is also a prominent social debater and columnist in the Norwegian media. In 2005, she received the Fritt Ord prize because she "sharply and well-formulated conveyed Eastern European experiences into the Norwegian debate and challenged Norwegian standard perceptions".
