Ochiai EmikoOCHIAI Emiko is a Japanese sociologist and is Professor of Sociology at Kyoto University, Japan. She worked at the International Research Center for Japanese Studies before moving to Kyoto University. Her areas of interest are family studies and gendr studies primarily. The Japanese Family System in Transition: A Sociological Analysis of Family Change in Postwar Japan, originally published in Japanese in 1994 and later translated into English, Korean and Chinese, is among her most noteworthy publications. Her more recent works include the co-edited volumes Asia′s New Mothers (2008) and The Stem Family in Eurasian Perspective (2009).
