In 1983-84, he was a visiting Research Fellow at Universities of Syracuse, State University of New York at Binghampton and Albany (USA), Toronto (Canada) and London (UK). His major areas of research and teaching interests are race and ethnic relations, family and social networks, inter-ethnic marriage, social change, urban sociology, rural sociology, community studies.
