Parimal Kumar RoyParimal Kumar Roy , in January 2006, embarked on his career in the Development sector, collaborating with GoB, PKSF, ADB, DFID, SIDA, UNFPA, and Orbis International. His involvement in various projects in this sector continued until May 2015. He thentransitioned to the academic realm in June 2015, shifting from Development practice to Theory exercise. In his PhD thesis titled “Customary Law and Sustainable Community Development: A Study of the Santals of Bangladesh” (Universiti Malaya, Malaysia in 2024 with 'Award of Excellence'), he focused on the 'Capability Approach' aligned with the customary law and sustainable development of the Santals community. Prior to his PhD, he studied Anthropology at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet, Bangladesh. His academic focus was on Indigenous communities, policies such as ILO Convention 169, UNDRIP, Forest policy, Environmental issues, SDGs, Climate justice, and the decision-making process within the cultural milieu, with a specific emphasis on the implication of participatory governance and development to ensure social justice. He also holds a Masters in Business Administration from BOU, Bangladesh. Currently, he is deeply interested in exploring the relationship between theory, policy, and practice among ethnic/ indigenous/ minority/ vulnerable groups and has published several analyses of policies and international frameworks on international platforms. Parimal Kumar Roy possesses an extensive interest in decolonization, indigenous research paradigms, and international frameworks. He is deeply committed to methodological rigor in research, adhering to the Indigenous Research Paradigm and neoliberal trend (post-positivism), and occasionally utilizing Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) to conduct his research activities. His expertise and skill in these fields are sure to inspire trust in his professional and academic circles. Furthermore, he satisfied the “FinTech & Regulatory Innovation” (April-June 2023) course and “Cambridge Digital Assets For Regulators” (July-September 2023) at the University of Cambridge, UK, by getting ADBI scholarships and also obtained a full fellowship from ITCILO to study on Rural Development, Turin, Italy (2023); moreover, he obtained a training fellowship on Refugee Law by UNHCR (2024) to comprehend the International Refugee Law and its application in the refugee community; also he conveyed another one training fellowship from CIVICUS on Bridgers’ of Community Organizers training at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia (June 2024). Apart from these, he was awarded a full funding scholarship from ETH to participate at the Swiss School of Public Governance to complete the Certificate of Advanced Studies on 'Public Governance and Administration' at ETH Zurich, Switzerland (2024). He completed the CAS graduation with a Thesis—Forest Policy and Indigenous People: In the Lens of International Frameworks (2025).To add the capacities as part of the skilled story, acquired a PGD in Project Management and another in Criminology and Retrospective Justice. He also participated in foreign training, workshops, and conferences at home and abroad as part of a CBT journey and participated in the training on Introduction of Public Policy by ADBI scholarship.
