He is a Registered Professional Engineer, holds 42 US patents, and has delivered over 75 papers and presentatios on drilling technology and is using that expertise to facilitate drilling tech transfer. Paul is a recognized drilling mechanics Subject Matter Expert. Among his many awards, Paul was a 2022-2023 SPE Distinguished Lecturer (Auto Driller Control Systems), a 2020 SPE International Drilling Engineering Award and the 2017 SPE Gulf Coast Drilling Engineering Award.
