Paul W GuthrieThe author is a Chartered Engineer and motorcyclist. Fresh out of school he joined his father in a motorcycle business and trained as a mechanic. He then went to study engineering at university and has had a long career in the automotive industry. Moorcycles have always been of interest and when he moved to Germany it took on a new dimension. His interest in the Jimmie Guthrie story started for two reasons; the first was sharing the same family name and the other was motorcycle racing. What started out as engineering curiosity about the possible cause of Jimmie Guthrie's crash turned into a major research project. The decision to write a book came out of the need to document the data in a coherent way. The story is very complex and requires context to appreciate it. The author has applied an historical method in collecting, validating and making conclusions about that data. Every attempt was made to present the facts fairly to allow the reader the opportunity to form their own opinion. Being an engineer the author was able to evaluate certain technical facts which a normal historian would not find easy. Hopefully this has brought an extra highlight to the book for those with interest in the technical side. Read More Read Less
