Philip PerryPhilip Perry has been a practising psychologist for four decades. He has explored psychology from an academic perspective, both in his doctoral studies and his subsequent work as a university professor. While working in private practices, his focus hs been on suicide prevention and significant loss. He has been involved with developing and directing treatment centres for troubled youths and their families across Canada. He is a trauma specialist with First Nations residential treatment programs, and he has professional interests in forensic psychology and hypnotherapy.

Philip wrote Unmasking: A Journey of Awakening to examine the discipline-specific difficulties that face psychologists, particularly the tension between the professional pressure to improve oneself and the healer's call to attend to the needs of others. Perry has published one other book, Beyond Content: Uncommon Interventions with People in Crisis (1990).
