Phyllis Aronoff
Phyllis Aronoff is a Montreal-based literary translator working from French to English, either independently or in collaboration with Howard Scott. She holds a Master’s degree in English literature and has translated fiction, poetry, memoir, and wrks in the humanities by authors from Québec and France. Her translation of La Québécoite by Régine Robin, published as The Wanderer, won the 1998 Jewish Book Award for Fiction. With Scott, she received the Quebec Writers’ Federation Translation Award for The Great Peace of Montreal of 1701 and the Governor General’s Literary Award for Translation. She is a past president of the Literary Translators’ Association of Canada and has represented translators on the Public Lending Right Commission of Canada.
