Quanuquanei A KarmueQUANUQUANEI A. KARMUE was born in a small village outside of Gbarnga City in Liberia. He was eight-years-old when civil war broke out in the country. In 1993, he and his family emigrated to Providence, Rhode Island, USA where they were reunited with heir father. Quanei earned a scholarship to attend Bancroft High, an elite private school in Worcester, MA and graduated in 2001. He received another scholarship from the Christian Herter Foundation along with a Congressional Art Scholarship to attend the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in Savannah, GA. After graduation, Quanei worked as a graphic designer and developed a passion for photography during a trip with his family to Liberia. While there, he documented the impact of the 14 years civil war on the children. This experience initiated Witness, Children of War, and the Journey of Hope, which became part of his MFA thesis at East Tennessee State University. In 2013, he founded the charity Save More Kids.
