Watching my kids navigate the fast-paced world of social media and influencers, I realized how much our new digital reality had shifted the concept of leadership. I wanted to create values and principles that would guide them not just in face-to-face interactions but in this ever-evolving online world as well.My professional journey began in factories at 18 and continued into the military, where I served in the Army for nearly a decade. After being injured, I transitioned to contracting roles for the Department of Defense, working in locations like Iraq, Kuwait, and Afghanistan. Eventually, I found my way into software engineering, climbing the ranks from QA engineer to executive leadership in the tech industry. Over the years, I've helped major brands tackle leadership challenges, refine strategy, and deliver cutting-edge engineering solutions.I began writing because of the growing influence of social media on our children's lives. When I ask kids about their heroes, I didn't hear the names of athletes, action heroes, or anyone of true substance like I might have decades ago. Instead, I heard the names of influencers, people whose primary goal is to sell content, often without a deeper purpose. As a leader in tech and a father, I wanted to share what I've learned about leadership to help others, adults and kids alike, understand the critical difference between influence and leadership. My work is about building a generation of leaders who can think critically, empathize deeply, and drive meaningful change in the world.When I'm not writing or leading, you'll find me indulging in my love for history podcasts, smoking meats, cigars, martial arts, and cars. I also love traveling with my family. From driving across Europe to wandering through Peru, we never take pre-set tours. Instead, we embrace getting lost and finding adventures along the way.
