Regina DumasRegina Dumas is a local entrepreneur who has owned and managed an eco-lodge for the past 17 years. Originally a High School Language teacher, Regina encountered non-governmental organizations and the important roles played by them in the mid-seventie. In choosing to focus on the area of rural development, her activist roles put her in touch with farmers, fishermen, women and youth persons whose ideas, knowledge and experiences taught her so much that she was convinced there was a further concrete role to play one which would pull all of those strands together into a useful, demonstrative whole. The creation of Cuffie River Nature Retreat is the incarnation of those strands of grassroots experiences, of sharing, of observation and of learning, interwoven with the strands of humility and gratitude, without which there can be no complete picture. Cuffie River is about biodiversity, about demonstrating our care, concern and love for the natural environment, of creating a space of serenity in which all, humans, wildlife, flora and fauna are able to co-exist lovingly and peacefully.
