Reilly RidgellRidgell received a BA in Political Science from UCLA in 1969 and an MA in the same field from UC Santa Barbara in 1970. He went into the Peace Corps in 1971, serving two years in the Western Islands of what was then called Truk. A two‐year teacing contract followed. In 1975 Ridgell came to Guam and taught at a Catholic high school while also working as a disc jockey at a local radio station. In 1980 he became an Assistant Professor at Guam Community College. In 2000 he moved into administration and in 2001 became dean of the School of Trades and Professional Services at Guam Community College. He is the author of a widely used textbook, Pacific Nations and Territories, and co‐author of its elementary level version, Pacific Neighbors. He also wrote the anthology Bending to the Trade Winds, Stories of the Peace Corps Experience in Micronesia. His wife, Blora, is from the island of Ta in what is now called Chuuk.
