Rev. Jonathan Aitken
The Reverend Jonathan Aitken is an acclaimed author, broadcaster, and former British Cabinet Minister. He served as a UK Member of Parliament for twenty-three years, holding the posts of Minister of State for Defence an Chief Secretary to the Treasury. He is an acclaimed author and biographer. His award-winning books include Nixon: A Life, John Newton: From Disgrace to Amazing Grace, and Margaret Thatcher: Power and Personality.
He is now Prison Chaplain at HMP Pentonville and an Assistant Priest in two London churches.
Jonathan Aitken has been a frequent visitor to Kazakhstan for the past two decades. He has advised the Government on prison reform and on the setting up of the Probation System. He is also the author of two books: Kazakhstan Kazakhstan: Surprises and Stereotypes After 20 Years of Independence and Nazarbayev and the Making of Kazakhstan: From Communism to Capitalism.
