Richard OsbornRichard Osborn started college in 1957. The Vietnam War cut his education short after his sophomore year. He is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving as a hospital corpsman. After an honorable discharge, he attended Embry Riddle Aeronautical Uiversity in Daytona Beach, Florida, for two years, where he received his commercial and instrument pilot's licenses. Along with an associate degree in Aeronautical Engineering Technology. He flew for Northwest Airlines for just short of 35 years, retiring at 60 in 1999, as a captain on the 747-400. After he retired, he returned to academia and earned a cum laude degree in creative writing from Augsburg University in Minneapolis.
