Robert N. RossRobert N. Ross has been a self-employed medical writer, consultant, and data analyst (Medical/Science Analytics) since 1980. Among the books he has written are Care and Punishment: The Dilemmas of Prison Medicine, with Curtis Prout, MD (University o Pittsburgh Press, 1988) and Psychobiology and Psychopathology, with Sanford Cohen, MD (McGraw-Hill, 1982). He has also written more than 100 articles for various medical journals.Mr. Ross got his undergraduate education at Williams College and his M.A. and Ph.D. at Cornell University, where he specialized in the science and poetry of the English Romantic period. After teaching literature at the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Ross won two grants to develop a method for mapping how people put concepts together in speech (Mellon Fellowship to the University of Pittsburgh and National Council of Teachers of English). This work led to a one-year visiting lectureship at the University of California, Irvine School of Social Science and a National Institute of Mental Health post-doctoral fellowship (Boston University School of Medicine) to study the verbal expression of emotion in asthma.
