Robert ThompsonI am a Canadian. Canadians are mostly noted in the literary field as critics (Northrup Frye) or documentaries (Oscars for little known subjects that we try to illuminate). Our movies are dreadful - slow moving things full of pregnant pauses where the shouldn't be. But our comedians are pretty good (Norm McFarlane, Martin Short and Jim Carrey) But I digress. I was a Teacher of English in my previous life and I got out just as the modern era of violence, sex and drugs took over. I am a private person and am presently a contented man. But I get angry about Russia and the invasion and the countries that give lip service to helping Ukraine. I spend my time doing as little as possible; reading my favourite authors ( John Irvine, Guy Gavriel Kay, and my all time favourite author - John Steinbeck). A very wise woman once told me (after I had written an autobiography in which there was nothing about myself in it) that what you write about others and events that have happened to you tells us a lot about you.
