He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi while serving in the U.S Navy and a Master of Divinity. He pastored churchesin Colorado before starting a graphic arts business and then returning to college, earning a certificate of business data processing and a Master of Business Administration.
