Roger E. BackhouseRoger E. Backhouse is Professor of the History and Philosophy of Economics at the University of Birmingham, where he has taught since 1980. He has held a part-time position in the Erasmus Institute of Philosophy and Economics, and in 2007 he was Ludwg Lachmann Research Fellow in the Department of Philosophy at the London School of Economics. He has also taught at University College London, Keele University, the University of Bristol, the University of Buckingham, and the University of Oporto. He currently holds a Leverhulme Trust Major Research Fellowship to write an intellectual biography of Paul Samuelson. He is the coeditor of The History of the Social Sciences since 1945 (Cambridge, 2010); The Unsocial Social Science?: Economics and Neighboring Disciplines since 1945 (2010); and The Cambridge Companion to Keynes (Cambridge, 2006). He is author of The Ordinary Business of Life (2002) and The Penguin History of Economics (2002). He has written for a number of journals, including Economica, the Journal of Economic Perspectives, History of Political Economy, the Journal of the History of Economic Thought, and the Journal of Economic Methodology.
