Ruben Hernandez ValleProf. Rubén Hernández Valle (born 5 August 1946) studied law at the University of Costa Rica (1966-1970). He spent two years in Italy studing Constitutional Law with professors Aldo Sandulli at the University of Rome and Mauro Cappelletti at the Univrsity of Florence. In 1973 he was appointed Professor Extraordinarius of Constitutional Law at the University of Costa Rica. In 1984 he became ordinary Professor. He participated, the upon request of the United Nations Human Rights Division, in the drafting of the Guinea Equatorial Constitution in 1982. He prepared the first draft of the Constitutional Jurisdiction Law in 1989 and was very active during its legislative approval. He has been visiting professor at the Universidad Católica de Buenos Aires, Argentina; Universidad San Marcos de Lima, Perú; Universidad San Carlos de Guatemala, among others. He has also lectured at the University Carlos III, Madrid, Spain; and the Universities of Siena, Pisa, Torino, Tor Vergata and Rome, in Italy. He has published 15 books on Constitutional Law and many articles in different international law reviews, such as Revista Española de Derecho Constitucional, Revue Français de Droit Constitutionnel, Annuaire International de Justice Constitutionnel, etc. He was Ambassador to the Government of Italy (1994-1998).
