Rudolf LukešRudolf Lukeš graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague. He became a set designer in the movie industry until he was blacklisted by the Communist government in 1948 and forced to leave his job. Anonymously entering a competition held by a publshing house to find a new illustrator, he won and went on to produce children's books that were published around the world, although his name was never allowed on the cover.
