Ruth RamseyRuth Ramsey was born and raised in western Oklahoma and grew up travelling on Route 66. She has spent the majority of her life in various towns in Washita and Custer County except for a brief time living in Wyoming. She received a Bachelor of Arts inEnglish Education in 1988 from Southwestern Oklahoma State University, graduating summa cum laude, and has since pursued a teaching career. She currently is completing her twenty-second year of teaching in a rural school in southwest Oklahoma, where she teaches English and Art and is the yearbook advisor. She also has a background in journalism, having served as a women's editor for the Clinton Daily News, Clinton, OK, a columnist and stringer for the Woodward News, Woodward, Oklahoma, and as a features writer and contributing editor for the Casper Star Tribune and the Casper Journal, Casper, Wyoming, respectively. She also writes poetry, and has had her work published in Westview Magazine. She is an avid amateur genealogist, draws portraits of people, whose faces she finds endlessly fascinating, and has been active in community theatre as an actress and director, as well as singing in local community choirs.
