S Jeevananda ReddyDr. Sazzala Jeevananda Reddy [Dr. S. J. Reddy] was born into an agricultural family on 4th November 1943 in Kurnool District of Andhra Pradesh, India. Graduating from A. C. College in Guntur, Dr. Reddy obtained his M.Sc. [Tech] in Geophysics and Postraduate Diploma in Applied Statistics (P.G.D.A.S.) from the Andhra University in Visakhapatnam/India. Dr. Reddy completed advanced training in meteorology & Oceanography [A.T.M.& O.] from the India Meteorological Department's Training School in Pune/India and also completed advanced course in numerical weather prediction [N.W.P.]. Dr. Reddy got his Ph.D. in "Agricultural Meteorology" from the "Te Australian National University", Canberra/Australia. Dr. Reddy has a vast experience in the fled of agro climatology & agro meteorology while working in several national and international institutions and organizations such as India Meteorological Department (IMD) in Pune/India, International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in Hyderabad/ India, Inter-American Institute for Cooperative Agriculture (IICA)/ EMBRAPA/CPATSA in Petrolina/Brazil, National Institute of Agricultural Research (INIA) and National Directorate of Agriculture (DINA), Ministry of Agriculture, as FAO Expert/Dy. Team Leader in Maputo/Mozambique, FAO short-term consultant in Argentina (Ministry of Agriculture) and in Ethiopia (National Meteorological Services Agency - NMSA) and WMO Senior Expert/Chief Technical Advisor/Team Leader in National Meteorological Services Agency (NMSA), Addis Ababa/Ethiopia. Dr. Reddy authored/Edited 11 books and presented chapters in few other books. Dr. Reddy published more than 500 scientific articles and few hundred news paper articles and several hundreds of opinions on online articles/reports. Dr. Reddy is Life Member of Indian Meteorological Society-AP Chapter (IMS); Fellow of Telangana Academy of Sciences [Founder Member]; Convenor, Forum for a Sustainable Environment.
