Sandra M. GustafsonSandra M. Gustafson (Ph.D. UC Berkeley; Editor, Beginnings to 1820) is Professor of English and American Studies at the University of Notre Dame. She is the author of Imagining Deliberative Democracy in the Early American Republi and Eloquence Is Power: Oratory and Performance in Early America as well as co-editor of Cultural Narratives: Textuality and Performance in American Culture before 1900. Since 2008 she has edited the MLA-affiliated journal Early American Literature.
