Scott Schaut a baby boomer growing up in the Post Korean War affluent economy in Milwaukee, Wisconsin was always interested in history and things of the past. Did his undergraduate studies at the University of Wisconsin, majoring in Paleontology. orking for several years for the Milwaukee Museum and doing field work in South Dakota and Wyoming. Lived in Washington D.C. for 15 years owning a pipe organ and piano restoration shop, researcher at the National Archives and Smithsonian Institution and a professional genealogist on Eastern European and German families and communities. Moved to tranquil Mansfield Ohio, because of lesser priced housing. Worked on restoring a 1910 house for two years and while doing research on the original owner found by accident the Mansfield Memorial Museum which had been closed to the public for 44 years. After talking with the Trustees of the Mansfield Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Building where the museum is housed, asked if the museum could be reopened and he started a new carrier that changed his life forever. He is the second Director and Curator of the museum since it opened in 1889. Mansfield is his adopted city, but he is very passionate in preserving as much of the past from this city as possible. Author of seven books on Mansfield history. The great achievements of our past have shaped our future and must not be trivialized or forgotten. "What is Past is Prologue"
