Scott Strazzante

Photojournalist Scott Strazzante has covered sports and disasters, culture and corruption, across a celebrated 30-year career. Named POY/NPPA National Newspaper Photographer of the Year while at the Joliet, Illinois, Herald News, Strazzante began 13-year run at the Chicago Tribune in 2001. An 11-time Illinois Photographer of the Year, Strazzante was also part of the Tribune team that won a Pulitzer Prize in 2007 for Investigative Journalism. Ripon College has declared him one of its Distinguished Alumni.

In 2014 Strazzante moved west to join the photography staff of the San Francisco Chronicle. That year he also published Common Ground, a visual exploration of place, labor, family, and home in the changing landscape of his native northern Illinois. The 23-year-long personal project had already generated award-winning print, digital, and video productions featured in National Geographic, Mother Jones, the New York Times Lens Blog, and on CBS News "Sunday Morning." Common Ground was Strazzante's first book with PSG.
