Serge GijrathProf. Dr Serge Gijrath LLM (1964) is Endowed Professor of Technology and Telecommunications Law at the Center for Law and Digital Technologies (eLaw) at Leiden Law School. Serge holds Master's degrees in Civil, Criminal and Administrative law nd international law and international relations (University of Amsterdam, 1988); he received an advanced Master's degree in Comparative, European and International Law at the European University Institute (1989). In 2006 he defended his dissertation on 'Interconnection Regulation and Contract Law' at the University of Tilburg. Serge has been attorney working in private practice since 1990. He advises companies on IT and telecommunications contracts and law related matters. From 1996 to 2008 he worked for Baker & McKenzie (partner from 1998) where he headed the ICT and telecommunications practice. Currently, he is partner at C-Legal. Since 2011, he has been acting arbitrator in the settlement of ICT disputes. From 1999 to 2007, he worked part-time as researcher and assistant professor at the Tilburg Institute for Law, Technology & Society. From 2008 to 2016, Serge was part-time assistant professor at the Computer Law/Institute (VU, Amsterdam).
