Simon Elias Bibri
Dr. Simon Elias Bibri is a Senior Researcher and Scientific Coordinator at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Lausanne (EPFL), Institute of Computer and Communication Sciences. He has a diverse background including roles as Head of ComputerDepartment, IT Project Manager, Environmental Sustainability Strategist, and Assistant Professor. He served as an expert for UNFCCC on AI for Climate Action, UNIDO on Sustainable Cities, and ITU on Smart Sustainable Cities and Digital Twins. Dr. Bibri is Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Environmental Studies. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, multiple master’s degrees from Swedish universities, and a PhD from NTNU in in computer science and information technology. He has authored 9 books, edited 3, and co-edited 13 volumes. Recently, he joined the EU Horizon Europe consortium project on Generative Agentic AI for Explainable Urban Digital Twins for Smart Carbon-Neutral Cities as Scientific Coordinator, Principal Investigator, and Senior Scientist.
