Sir John Jenkins
Sir John Jenkins is a former British diplomat and one of the UK’s leading authorities on political Islam. During a distinguished Foreign Office career, he served as Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Iraq, and Syria, and as Consul-Genera in Jerusalem. He is best known for leading the UK government’s 2014–15 review of the Muslim Brotherhood, which assessed the movement’s history, ideology, and relationship to violence, and has since shaped British and international policy debates. Jenkins has written and spoken widely on the Brotherhood, jihadist movements, and Middle Eastern politics, combining deep regional experience with rigorous analysis of Islamist ideology and state responses.
