Sofiani AdamsSofiani Adams lives in Dover, Delaware. She is married with two children, two grandchildren, and two dogs. She loves to travel, read, sing and spend quality time with her loved ones. She has travelled around the world, visiting many countries and enjys meeting people and experiencing different cultures, which has inspired her to write this book. She has experienced many challenges in her life. Her goal is to help abused women, children and rescued animals. Sofiani Adams would like to share some experiences from her life that inspired her to write her first novel, ANNA. I came to the United States 31 years ago. I was young and inexperienced regarding the hardships of life. Learning English was very challenging. I spoke very poorly, but I forced myself to learn. I didn't have the luxury of going to school or college to learn proper English like others. I taught myself how to speak by reading a lot of books and participating in daily conversations with those around me. My English improved, but it was still not perfect. I got a good job. Many years later, I gained enough confidence to a write a book. Mainly, to prove to myself I could do it. I disregarded what others said about me. Some people rolled their eyes when I told them I was writing a book. I could see through their expressions what they were thinking: "You? Write a book?" That's ok, I smiled and laughed, because to me that was the best medicine to heal the pain I've carried in my heart. My mother used to say, "Don't worry about what others think of you, remember actions speak louder than words." I received hurtful words and criticism from people. At work, some clients or customers didn't want me to help them. They would request someone who could speak better English; because of my accent, people didn't feel comfortable speaking with me. Or maybe they didn't like me? Regardless, I was going to prove it to myself. My mom's voice was ringing in my head, reminding me that anything is possible if you dream big and work hard, you can achieve your dreams. Here I am 31 years later, publishing my first novel that is so dear to my heart, in English, my second language. I completed this novel in 2000 and decided to publish it in 2016. Thank you to my publisher, editors and husband for your help. It took me 16 years to do it. I was skeptical, but what do I have to lose? Nothing, except perhaps the opportunity to fulfill my dream of publishing my book. I am very grateful for the support I have from my family that I love so dearly, my friends and my two babies (my dogs). I have experienced many hardships and challenges in my life, but the encouragement of my supporters has helped me overcome these challenges. In the past, I was fortunate to travel to many countries where I met amazing people. I lived, learned and soaked up their different cultures.
